HOULTON, Maine_ A number of bomb threats disrupted holiday shopping at eight Wal-Mart stores around the state Saturday night.
According to the Houlton police department, a robotic sounding male voice had phoned in the bomb threat around 7:30 PM. A search of the store, along with other store locations around the state, yielded nothing. Most stores reopened later in the evening, but managers at the Houlton location decided to stay closed in order to conduct a more thorough search.
A spokesman for the Houlton police department said that the fact that so many stores were mentioned in the threat led authorities to believe that the threat was most likely fake.
Houlton Wal-Mart is scheduled to re-open with normal hours Sunday morning.
