Missing Augusta Girl Tells Family She Went on a 'Long Ride'

AUGUSTA, Maine - A 3-year-old Augusta girl who was returned home safely after going missing for nearly 12 hours told her family she went on a "long ride.''

Lenore "Lenny'' Wilson was brought to the Augusta police station by an unknown man after an Amber Alert was issued following her disappearance Tuesday morning. The alert was only the second of its kind ever issued in the state.

Police say they have questioned the man and are seeking to locate Fatima "China'' Gissentaner, a New York woman who reportedly contacted local officers and said she had the girl.

Gissentaner is said to have occasionally cared for Wilson.

Wilson was returned to her grandmother and other family members. Police are continuing to investigate.
