A Dixmont man whose house was blown up by state police last June has sent notice to state and local law enforcement agencies and the Maine Attorney General's office that he plans to sue.

The claim alleges that police violated 61-year old Michael Grendell's rights when they responded to a call that he was suffering from mental health issues and needed help. After police spent about 20 hours trying to draw Grendell out of his home, they detonated a robotic bomb which leveled Grendell's house.

The claim says that Grendell suffered severe and physical and emotional injuries from the explosion.  He's seeking $20 million in compensatory damages and $100 million in punitive damages.
