NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine - A Maine state trooper has been injured in a highway crash. Police said the trooper was sitting in his cruiser on the Maine Turnpike in New Gloucester, near the Auburn line. He was investigating two cars that had slid off the highway.
The cruiser was struck from behind at about 5 a.m. Friday. The trooper was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The turnpike's northbound lanes from Gray to Auburn had been closed for a while after a crash. That closure has now been lifted, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority.
