Chris Christie Making Final Push for LePage

PORTLAND, Maine — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will rally Maine Republicans in a final push for Republican Gov. Paul LePage on the eve of the election.

LePage is in a tight race against Democratic Rep. Mike Michaud. Independent Eliot Cutler is running a distant third and has repeatedly rejected pleas to quit the race and throw his support to Michaud.

Christie — the chairman of the Republican Governors Association — will rally voters at the Elks Lodge in Portland Monday night.

The Maine event is the RGA chairman's last campaign stop before Election Day. Earlier he'll be stumping for Republicans in Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Connecticut. In all, he has campaigned for candidates in nearly 20 states this election.

The RGA has poured more than $4 million into LePage's re-election bid.
