Actress Susan Sarandon is in Maine campaigning for presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.
Her first stop Tuesday was in Portland, where she told the Portland Press Herald that she believes Mainers are an independent breed and will look deeply at the issues before choosing a candidate.
Sarandon, who has a home on Mount Desert Island, was also scheduled to appear at Bowdoin College in Brunswick and then the University of Maine at Orono.
Her plans for Wednesday include stops in Houlton, Augusta and Waterville.
