Another Person Dies As Maine Logs 24 More COVID-19 Cases

Another person has died as the number of COVID-19 cases logged in Maine since the pandemic's onset grew overnight to 3,912, twenty-four more than Thursday.  The death toll now stands at 123.That's according to new figures the Maine Center for Disease Control posted on its website Friday. The person who died was an Androscoggin County resident.

A total of 3,361 Mainers have recovered from the virus, leaving 428 active cases that the state is currently tracking. 

Since the pandemic began, 388 people have been hospitalized at some point during their illness. As of Thursday, 11 people were in the hospital, eight of them in intensive care. Five people were on ventilators.

The Maine CDC's next briefing on the virus is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4.
