Author Nazila Fathi reported for the New York Times for over a decade from Tehran until June 2009 when she was forced to leave the country because of direct threats to her. Her talk focuses on the government of Iran in the aftermath of the contested elections held two years ago.
Nazila Fathi worked for Agence France Presse, Time magazine, and has written for numerous publications including the New York Review of Books and Foreign Policy. She translated a book by the Noble peace prize laureate, Shirin Ebadi, called The History and Documentation of Human Rights in Iran, into English in 2001. She was a Nieman fellow at Harvard in 2011 and will be a Shorenstein fellow at Harvard Kennedy School of Government in 2012.
