Labor Day 'Funeral Procession' Calls For Stronger Pandemic Response

Members of labor organizations are holding a caravan in Portland this morning led by a hearse as they demand stronger pandemic response.

They are calling on local, state and national elected officials to immediately pass COVID-19 relief legislation. Among the measures being sought are those to protect workers, provide federal aid for state and local governments and boost unemployment benefits.

Organizers also say racial disparities have to be addressed in both the health and economic crises.

The caravan is being called a funeral procession for the workers who died of COVID-19 due to inaction.
