Today marks the start of open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act marketplace. The Trump administration has slashed funding for outreach efforts, but Gov. Janet Mills says the state plans to fill that gap for Mainers who want to enroll. At a press conference at the State House in Augusta Friday, Mills announced that her administration has launched a website and outreach campaign called CoverME to help individuals and small businesses sign up for health insurance.

"The federal government isn't doing a lot of marketing about this, as you know," Mills said. "We are."

The CoverME campaign is funded by a $750,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Mills says about 106,000 Mainers don't have health insurance, but many are likely eligible for subsidies or Medicaid under expansion.
