Woman Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit After Police Shooting

A woman has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against police officers who shot and killed her daughter and another man after their pickup truck rammed a police cruiser in Maine.

The Bangor Daily News reports Jessica Fagre says in her lawsuit filed Friday officers used excessive force when they shot and killed 18-year-old Ambroshia "Amber" Fagre.

Fagre says her daughter was an innocent bystander, and police should have known she wasn't an imminent threat.

The state Attorney General's office previously cleared the officers of wrongdoing, saying Fagre's death was accidental.

Vassalboro police Chief Mark Brown, who was at the scene of the February 2017 shooting, has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Brown says in his motion his gunfire did not hit Fagre.
