Nearly 30 million Americans have diabetes. Approximately 11.1 percent of the adult population in Maine have it and 36,000 Mainers have diabetes but don’t know it. In addition, 386,000 adult Mainers have prediabetes with blood glucose levels higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes.
