Jerome Vaughn of WDET reports that Daimler Chrysler replaced the American president of its troubled Chrysler unit with German auto executive Dieter Zetsche. The announcement comes two years after Daimler joined forces with Chrysler in the auto industry's biggest merger. Chrysler's performance has lagged expectations this year, and the automaker hopes the shakeup will boost profits. It's also further evidence, analysts say, that the power in the merged company resides in Stuttgart, not Detroit.
