PORTLAND, Maine - Officials of Elite Airways were at the Portland Jetport this morning to announce plans for Maine-to-Florida service beginning in December.
President John Pearsall pointed out that the airline has actually been headquartered in Portland since its founding in 2006.
"We are, originally, a Maine airline, having started here in 2006. And we employ a lot of Mainers," Pearsall said. " And we are so proud to bring our service here to Maine with new non-stop service down to Orlando-Melbourne Airport.""
Melbourne is along the so-called "space coast" and about an hour from Orlando. There will be two flights per week, southbound on Friday afternoons and northbound on Monday mornings. Service begins in mid-December.
