Maine Economic Forecasters: Economy Continues to Grow

AUGUSTA, Maine - The state's Economic Forecasting Commission has made a few minor changes to its forecast of Maine's economy. But the group's chair, business executive Jim Clair, says the state is continuing to see growth.

"We're closing in one nearly full employment, from an economic viewpoint," Clair says. "We've got a relatively low inflation environment, and wage and salary employment is in a pretty good place right now."

The group's report will now be used by the Revenue Forecasting Commission to revise its projections. While it will be the end of February before that group crunches the numbers, indications are the economic re-forecast will mean additional state revenues over the rest of the two year budget cycle than first projected.
