In response to concerns about out-of-state snowmobilers heading to Aroostook County during the COVID-19 emergency, the state has sent emails to more than 30,000 non-resident sledders asking them to consider staying home during the remainder of this season and come back next year.

“This is new territory for everybody and, you know, with many people at home, they are looking to get outside. What we're asking is that people do it smartly and safely.”

Inland Fisheries and Wildlife spokesperson Mark Latti says the coronavirus could be spread by people travelling long distances, and that the state is asking snowmobilers from other states do what is right and stay at home.
