Art Opening September 26th

Art Opening September 26th

Friday, September 26th from 4-6pm

The Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center invites you to an art opening on Friday, September 26th from 4 PM to 6 PM highlighting the works of Carol Sloane and Rebecca Goodale.

Carol Sloane - Being on the Land / Living near the Water / Observations of a Painter

Carol describes her art this way: “I experience a certain recklessness when I consider the enormity of our three dimensional landscape and work to place a small part of it onto a two dimensional surface with paint. I want to create a sensation of a place rather than a clear representation of a place.”

Rebecca Goodale - Field Notes

Goodale's show will highlight art from a series of artist’s books about plants and animals currently listed as threatened or endangered in Maine. Goodale wants to inspire sensitivity for these rare flora and fauna by using her background in book arts and textile design to interpret color, pattern, rhythm, and transition.

This exhibition runs September 26th through December 19th 2025.
The visitor center is located at 9 Water Street in Rockland. For more information, visit the website, mainecoastislands.org/events or email info@mainecoastislands.org.
