BETWEEN THE LINES
A moving reflection on what it means to be connected... to the water, to the fish, to one's truest expression of self. The river is a thread that has been woven in and out of Alex Obregon's life since he was three weeks old. While working as a raft guide in southern Chile, Alex found his love of fly fishing by way of whitewater, and simultaneously deepened his appreciation and understanding of all the spaces-and species-that a river holds.
ALDO'S BUG EXTRAVAGANZA
In "Aldo's Bug Extravaganza," join 5-year-old Aldo and his dad on a backyard safari filled with tiny wonders and big laughs. Armed with a camera and boundless curiosity, Aldo embarks on a bug-hunting escapade, narrating his discoveries with adorable wit and charm. As the week unfolds, Aldo's wide-eyed explorations not only capture the audience's imagination, but also subtly echo the timeless wisdom of Aldo Leopold, making for a delightful and endearing ode to the joy of nature's smallest marvels.
IF I DISAPPEAR
WHEN I'M IN THE WATER
Amongst the hundreds of lively ponds that make up Cape Cod, there's a thriving community of wildlife, foliage...and old women. Susan, the founder of "Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage", has gathered a group of electrifying old women to battle the growing pollution in the ponds. Life itself can become polluted by loneliness, especially as we age, but through this project these women have unexpectedly revitalized their own lives, not just their environments.
ADAPTIVE AVALANCHE: INCLUSIVE OUTDOORS PROJECT
This short film documents the Inclusive Outdoors Project's Adaptive Avalanche Recreation Level 1 course, held last April. Bringing together adaptive athletes and avalanche professionals, the course offered hands-on avalanche safety training tailored for for with disabilities. Set in the expansive backcountry of Cooke City, Montana, the film explores the practical skills, insights, and teamwork that go into preparing for winter mountain environments. "Adaptive Avalanche" highlights how adaptive athletes build expertise, brainstorm new ideas that work for each individual, and confidence to navigate snow-covered terrain, demonstrating the importance of inclusive education in making backcountry spaces safer and more welcoming for everyone.
SLIDING
A female athlete skips the crowded ski slopes to traverse the Swiss Alps on her sled... headfirst.
THE BIRDMAN OF SKOMER
For over 50 years, Tim Birkhead has dedicated his life to studying a resilient bird colony on the brink of survival. Once nearly wiped out, the birds have fought their way back - but new threats now loom on the horizon. As Tim grapples with their uncertain future, he also faces a deeper question: what will become of his life's work?
AROUND THE COVE
One lap, every hour, until there's one person left. Around the Cove tells the story of the 2024 Back Cove Backyard Ultra Marathon. On a hot July weekend, 121 runners gather at Portland, Maine's unassuming Back Cove trail to push themselves to their physical and emotional limit one 4-mile gravel loop at a time. Through the eyes of six competitors, we follow the journey to exhaustion and beyond and examine the omnipresent question: Why keep going?
