Thomas Hill Standpipe Summer Tour
Thomas Hill Standpipe Summer Tour
Bangor Water invites the public to the Thomas Hill Standpipe for the annual summer "Sunset" tour on Wednesday, July 19th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Thomas Hill Standpipe is a functioning water storage tank that was built in 1897 and designated as a National Historic Landmark. The promenade deck is accessed via a staircase with 100 steps and offers panoramic views of Bangor and the surrounding areas. Bangor Water's volunteer staff will be on hand to answer questions about this historic structure that's still in use today and its role in supplying water to one of Maine's largest cities.
This is a free event and is open to everyone. We ask that children under the age of 12 be accompanied by an adult and that food, beverages and pets are not taken into the standpipe.
