Trailside Birding

Trailside Birding

Trailside Birding is a crash course in observing and enjoying birds while out on the trail this season. We will learn about common habitats and bird species found on trails in Maine, tools to observe them, and tips to help tell them apart from each other, including some practice identifying birds by their songs, and a discussion of the threats many of these species face.

Andy Kapinos is a Field Naturalist at Maine Audubon. Originally from Western Massachusetts, he has worked previously as a high school teacher of Nature Study, and studied Agroecology and Sustainable Farming at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and UMass - Amherst. His interests include birds, native plants, ethnobotany, ecology, and the intersections therein. He also enjoys cooking, playing music, and hiking with his dog Rosie.

This event will be in-person at the Curtis Memorial Library and online with Zoom.
