Celebrate the conclusion to the Falmouth Memorial Library's Great State of Illustration in Maine art exhibit! Come challenge Illustration Institute's co-founder author/illustrator Scott Nash and a surprise guest with your silliest requests for a drawing. In front of the crowd, Scott and his guest will draw your idea (to the best of their ability on the spot!) without seeing each other's interpretation - yet you will see both. An entertaining event that cheers on creativity in action and the notion that there are, indeed, many ways to draw a unicorn riding a bicycle in a snowstorm! Join us as we close our exhibition with a lively celebration of illustration. You won't want to miss the final program in the Illustration Institute Great Slate of Programming series!

About Scott Nash
Scott Nash is a Maine-based illustrator, educator, graphic designer, product designer, children's book illustrator, and writer. He is the co-director of the Illustration Institute and has been instrumental in the growth of the Illustration Department at Maine College of Art & Design, which is now the largest department in the school. Nash is also known for his work on the Flat Stanley books and his design of logos for Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, Nick Jr., and Comedy Central. He founded the illustration program at Maine College of Art and runs NASHBOX, a graphic design and illustration company with his wife, Nancy Gibson-Nash.

Start writing the story of your life during this interactive workshop designed for older adults. We'll explore story structure, learn storytelling techniques, and practice turning memories into vivid narratives. In this workshop, you will:

--Make a "life map" marking the key milestones, important people, and lasting memories in your life.
--Learn storytelling tools and techniques that keep readers engaged.
--Complete a brief guided writing exercise, turning one memory into an anecdote.
--Receive a digital storytelling guide you can use to continue writing your story at your own pace.

A visual exhibition, " Outside In" with Judith Allen-Efstathiou’s work including copper sculptures made from reused, vintage copper from the Maine as well as cyanotypes, lithographs and drawings.
For First Friday October 3 and November 7th from 5- 7:00pm the artist will be at the gallery and is happy to discuss her work with visitors
The exhibition runs until November 20 and is open 24/7
on the lower level of the Press Hotel below reception.

Portland’s First Friday Art Walk is a free self-guided tour of art galleries, art studios, museums, and alternative art venues on the first Friday of every month from 5-8pm. The Daponte String Quartet
The Daponte String Quartet returns for a dazzling selection of extraordinary chamber music. The preeminent chamber music ensemble of the region offers classical and modern stringed instrument performance with violins, viola, and cello.
They will fill the hall with grandeur and excitement for this wonderous performance.
Suitable for all ages, this event will bring delightful music and immerse us all in the joyous sounds of strings. The Daponte String Quartet performs on the finest national musical circuits but is proud to call Maine its home. We are delighted to welcome them for a return engagement.

Join us for an engaging morning conversation exploring Indigenous ways of relating to nature and how we might apply that perspective to care for Casco Bay.

Casco Baykeeper Ivy Frignoca will be joined by Keyana Pardilla, Director of Community and Land Wellness at Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness. Keyana approaches her work through a worldview that understands elements like water and fish as her relatives. This perspective offers a different way to think about protection, responsibility, and reciprocity. We invite you to reflect on how this way of thinking might inform our work in Casco Bay.
