Once again we invite community members to come share their talent tonight. Music? Poetry? Comedy? A winter’s project? Doors open at 5:30 for sign-ups and the mic goes live at 6pm. Mic time limited to no more than 2 songs or 10 minutes – with the possibility for a second round at the mic depending upon sign-ups that night. Emcee: Eric Lowe. Questions? 207-633-5159. Please do not bring food or beverages--the Opera House bar will have cold drinks for sale, and the Friends groups will have chili, cornbread, desserts and coffee available. Scottish Country Dance is the ballroom dance of Scotland, done in longwise sets of several couples. We meet weekly to learn and enjoy the dances. All dances are taught. We recommend soft soled, flexible shoes. Bring a water bottle. There is a beginner/preview session at 5 p.m. by request. Note, we do not dance during the month of December.

Dervish has received a prestigious lifetime achievement award from the BBC, a fitting tribute to the band after over 30 years of recording and performing all over the world. Described by the BBC as “an icon of Irish music”, the band have played at festivals from Rio to Glastonbury. They accompanied the Irish President on state visits to Latvia and Lithuania and Prime Minister of Ireland on a trade mission to China as Cultural Ambassadors taking time out to play an impromptu session on the Great Wall of China. Dervish have a line-up which includes some of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians, fronted by one of the country’s best-known singers, Cathy Jordan. The Guardian newspaper commented: “Dervish are simply brilliant. . they carry Irish history with them.” Dervish are long-established as one of the biggest names in Irish music internationally. They’re renowned for live performances, which match dazzling sets of tunes with stunning interpretations of traditional songs. Their studio and live albums – 13 to date – make up one of the outstanding catalogues in Irish music.

Calling musicians of all levels! Please come and join us on the second Saturday of each month from 1:00 to 3:00 pm for a community - based open mic session. All levels and musical genres are welcome as are individuals, duos, groups, whatever. This will be an all - acoustic session but there will be a small Fishman amplifier and microphone available on an as needed basis.
Our open mic group shall endeavor to provide a fun and judgement free opportunity to share our musical offerings with others. Original compositions as well as covers are welcomed. Please pass the word to friends and let's create a community where we can gather to play, sing, laugh, learn and get to know our neighbors. The event shall be by donation ($2 suggested) with all proceeds going to The Gatherings.

Whether it's your birthday or not- come, bring friends, and make new ones! These parties will be held on the third Thursday of each month. Our first partnership is with Lucky Pigeon Brewing Co & we're so excited to have our parties there! The food will be potluck birthday cakes, pies, treats, & snacks, there will be games and prizes- with our grand prize at the end of the night being a tinfoil sculpture from local artist, Robert the Tinman! We continue to celebrate the music of Ireland this month! Celebrating 25 years in 2026, Téada are a traditional band with a truly worldwide reach. Since 2001, Téada has appeared as a frequent headliner at major music festivals throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Africa, Russia, the Middle East and Australia. Highlights include a 30,000-capacity stadium concert in Brittany, along with performances at Penang World Music Festival in Malaysia, Edmonton Folk Festival in Canada, Harare International Festival of the Arts in Zimbabwe, and Rainforest World Music Festival in Borneo. In 2014, the band performed to 40,000 people during an extensive 7-week tour of Japan / Taiwan, and continue to have a strong touring presence in the United States, where Téada has toured actively since 2001.

For new performers, this is a relaxed and fun opportunity to become comfortable performing live in front of an audience.
