“Now and Then,” a show of paintings by Camden resident Nina Holland, will be on exhibit in the upper and lower levels of the Rockport Public Library Dec. 2, 2025 - Jan. 29, 2026. The display is a retrospective of Holland’s work, spanning her 65-year career as an artist.

Trained as a painter, Holland is also known as an accomplished weaver and craftsperson. Her work has been exhibited country-wide, including five venues in New York City. She has won several awards in juried shows including a purchase prize and alcove show at New Mexico State Art Museum in Santa Fe.

In the 1970s, she published numerous articles and three books – two about weaving and one about quilting. She taught at Evansville University and North Country Community College.

Nina Holland plans to donate all proceeds from the sales of her artwork in the Rockport Library show to International Rescue Committee, rated a four-star charity on Charity Navigator.

Ages 4 – 10 enjoy a performance of children’s stories followed by an interactive acting workshop with Portland Stage’s Education Artists for $15. Sign up for the month and save or pick individual days that work for you. Financial aid is available. Build literacy, encourage creativity and spark dramatic dreams!

Play Me a Story takes place in person at Portland Stage’s Theater for Kids on Saturday mornings from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Doors open at 10:00, 10:30 performance, followed by an interactive workshop from 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM, with everything wrapped up by 12:00 PM.

We invite all to join in on this community building program–a chance to eat some good food, meet some new people, and have a great time at the library! Bring a dish to share: hot or cold, homemade or store bought, plain or fancy. As a way to be more eco-conscious and avoid disposables as much as possible, we are inviting those who can to bring your own place setting: utensils, plate or bowl, takeaway containers. We’ll have our kitchen open during the program if you’d like to rinse off what you brought before heading home. And lastly, bring yourself: come ready to enjoy the company of other folks! We’ll have some conversation starters out on the tables to help break the ice!

This program is free, open to the public, and no registration is required.

Tour-goers must be 21 or older. Infant-wearing is welcome - the tour path through our manufacturing plant is not suitable for young children or strollers.

Guests who are not drinking beer can purchase a Designated Driver ticket and will have a choice of NA beverage.

Dogs are not allowed on this manufacturing plant tour.

Expert needle-felter, fiber artist, and storyteller Hillary Dow of Binding Tales will lead this fun workshop at the Gilley, guiding participants through the process of creating a felted coral reef wall hanging. This workshop is suitable for all skill levels including beginners.

Learn needle felting techniques as you transform puffy piles of wool into a vivid and dynamic coral reef that features several types of coral in a variety of colors with dark shadows and 3D depth. Your wool supplies will include a 5x7 wool pre-felt; blue, purple, green and coral blended batts; and solid color roving. All the felting tools necessary to create your piece are provided, including several sizes of felting needles, single and multi-needle tools, finger guards, and a felting pad. The rich variety of prepared colors allows for a painterly approach to needle felting. All the wool used in this project is sourced from Maine fiber farms.

Hillary will display an author-illustrator showcase of original artwork as well as her children’s books, which will be available for sale. She is the author, illustrator and publisher of Binding Tales books, featuring pictures she has needle felted with wool sourced from Maine sheep. Born and raised in the western mountains of Maine, she now lives with her family in Hampden.

Bryon has spent over two decades lighting up stages across New England. He got his start playing alongside top local talent in Rumford and Mexico, going on to anchor bands like Stealing Skylite and Off and Running. From classic rock to funk, his dynamic style delivers something for everyone. All ages. Free admission. Exploring the complicated nature of friendship, the stand-out cast of TINKER BELL will draw you and your family into the whimsical and childlike world of Neverland. You may think you know the story of Peter Pan – come experience it from a surprising perspective.
