Blue Hill’s fourth annual “History Hunt” will take place this year from July 1-29, co-sponsored and hosted by the Jonathan Fisher House, Blue Hill Historical Society, First Congregational Church of Blue Hill, Blue Hill Public Library, and the Blue Hill Town Hall. Throughout the month of July, visit any of the participating locations to pick up a checklist of fun historical items to locate and activities to do. Turn in your completed checklist by July 29 to be entered into a drawing for a prize! Prizes for both kids and adults will be available and winners will be contacted after the drawing at the end of July.

From scouring stained glass windows to sleuthing for old books, each location will offer a way to learn about and connect with Blue Hill’s history. July hours for the locations are as follows:
Fisher House, Wed-Sat, 1-4 PM (beginning July 5)
Holt House (Blue Hill Historical Society), Thurs-Sun, 12-4 PM
Congregational Church, Wed & Sat, 1-3 PM (except 7/16 & 7/19)

From July 3 through August 28, the Rockport Public Library will host a show of works by abstract artist Noah Stitt. The exhibit, “Heavy Light,” features paintings and sculpture exploring play, structure, and the medium of paint.

“Using humor, subtlety, and suspension, my work explores the boundary between the objective and subjective image,” says Stitt. “Scenes are set in which the viewer is left to decide for themselves how to interpret the slippage between the two. With a heavy material presence, these objects and images lend themselves to a narrative reading. I think of them as 'narrative abstractions’."

Noah Stitt holds an MFA in Studio Art from Hunter College, CUNY, where he also taught; a BFA from Montana State University (also in Studio Art); and participated in the Early College Program at Maine College of Art. He has worked at the Coastal Maine Art Workshops, High Street Gallery, and in an ice studio in Queens, New York. Among other venues, his work has been shown at Hunter College Gallery and online at Hauser & Wirth. After many years living in various parts of the country, Stitt now resides in his home state of Maine.

Have you ever wanted to print your own t-shirt? Do you like design? Come join Ms. Bahre in exploring screen printing techniques! No experience necessary! Campers will have chances to print in many different ways and leave with a printed t-shirt, bag or other garment!

Campers will have their own art show on the last day of camp.

Yarmouth Arts Alliance presents the watercolors of the late artist Harry Beskind. The show will take place in the lower lobby at 317 Main, Yarmouth. There will be an opening reception and celebration on June 14, from 4:00-6:00.

Stop in Richard Boyd Art Gallery in July and relax while viewing a presentation of beautifully detailed paintings that made me pause to take in their beauty, intricate details or contemplate the underlying meaning they convey. Immerse yourself in a world of textures, colors, and details as you explore a range of contrasting styles from impressionism to realism, featuring a magnificent selection of original visual art created by artists from diverse backgrounds. The artists’ individual styles, choice of mediums and color palettes give them distinction in the visual arts community.

The exhibit is comprised of a stunning selection of paintings, each created with heartfelt emotions from the soul of the artist drawing viewers into a moment in time when an event, scene, or color inspired them to create. Whatever the inspiration, these paintings will remain relevant through the years.

The exhibit showcases works by highly regarded, award-winning artists among them Jane Herbert a distinguished fine and commercial artist known for her calming, beautifully detailed acrylic paintings; Deena S. Ball a nationally renowned art educator and instructor known for her use of watercolor on unconventional surfaces; Patricia Chandler a distinguished fine and commercial artist, art instructor, illustrator, and retired art educator well known for her knowledge and ability to create original art across all genres; Carrin Culotta recognized for her traditional style plein air and in studio oil paintings; Tim Eaton a nationally recognized commercial and fine artist known for his landscape paintings; and HM Saffer II an internationally renowned, award-winning performing and visual artist famed for his magnificently layered pointillist style landscape paintings.

Join Mariah Reading to create a unique lobster-themed glass mosaic. This class offers a fun opportunity to transform Maine's iconic seafood into a personal work of art. Suitable for both beginners and those with some experience, all necessary materials and instruction will be provided.

Participants can choose from a variety of lobster designs and mosaic sizes, ranging from 5x7 inches to 11x14 inches.

Blue Hill Bach 2025 Summer Festival – 15th Anniversary Season
July 15–19 • Blue Hill, Maine

Blue Hill Bach marks its 15th season with five days of performances and community events celebrating the music of Bach, Vivaldi, Purcell, and Monteverdi. Featured programs include Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with live sonnet readings, festive Bach cantatas, and a performance of the Magnificat. Free events throughout the week include talks, masterclasses, and instrument demonstrations.

Concerts: $35 general / $10 students / free for ages 17 and under.
