A long awaited return of this cult classic. On a stormy night, the newly engaged Brad and Janet find themselves out of gas and on the doorstep of one Dr Frank-N-Furter. They could never imagine the night in store, with a cast of creepily alluring characters who will test their boundaries, take their innocence and teach them to do The Time Warp.
Shakespeare returns to Stonington from June 19-29 with a joyous production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” directed by Opera House Arts’ Artistic Director Kathryn Markey. In this beloved comedy, two young couples run away to the mysterious realm of the Fairies. When the trickster Puck enchants them with a magical flower, love stories get muddled, jealousies arise, and a rustic band of amateur actors manages to perform an unforgettable play within the play, proving “what fools these mortals be…” A treat for the whole family, “Midsummer” will feature a fantastical design and a cast of ten.

Every summer we host two weekly group paddles for sea kayakers and stand-up paddlers from June through August. These one-hour sessions are a chance for local paddlers to get on the water together in the early morning when seas on Casco Bay are more likely to be calm.
It’s free to join if you bring your own SUP or sea kayak, or if you’re a Portland Paddle member. If you aren’t a member and need to rent a kayak or SUP, the cost is $25.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early so we can start our group paddles on time. For members and those renting a kayak/SUP, we ask that you make a rental booking at least 8 hours in advance. (If you’re a member, remember to enter your member code when you book). Using your own vessel? No need to make any reservations in advance; just show up. These paddles are led by our staff, who are happy to share tips, but they are not guided trips and you should not join if you need instruction or assistance in order to participate. The group will stay on the water for about an hour and will pick a destination that fits the conditions and participants.
Growing Routes offers a different camp experience where kids flourish in a relaxed, small-group, family-like atmosphere. Nestled on 84 enchanting acres in mid-coast Union, Maine, Twigg Farm is a haven of rolling fields, woods, nature trails, an apple orchard, food and flower gardens, a frog pond, and a private beach on the lake—an endless, magical playground for exploration. Each day is flexible based on camper interests, blending activities like swimming, art, gardening, yoga, ultimate frisbee, and scavenger hunts with the simple, timeless joys of summer - the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. Campers enjoy fresh, farm-to-table meals (including homemade ice cream of course!) and evenings filled with the sounds of nature. We focus on nurturing confidence, creativity, and compassion throughout everything we do.
One and two week sessions available for ages 8-16.
"then again, once more," a show of Vincente Spadafora’s contemporary color photography in handcrafted frames, will will be on exhibit at the Rockport Public Library June 3-28. Works will be shown in both the upper and lower levels of the library.
ABOUT THE ARTISTVincente Spadafora (vin-cent spa-da-for-a) is a visual artist who transcribes scenes of impermanence through photography. In chance encounters, the ephemeral quality of nature contrasts our built landscapes creating a new dialog and sense of comfort. Color, ritual and repeating characters (i.e. seagulls and traffic cones) make important appearances in the work. Spadafora lives on a small farm in Mid Coast Maine and travels throughout the state searching for images.
Spadafora’s work has been shown at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Old 77 Hotel, the Bakery Photo Collective, Sidle House Gallery, Katzman Contemporary, the Hubbell Brach Library and various online publications including Noice Mag, Ambient Nights, and Broad Magazine.
