Greene Man Gets 10 Years for Role in Slaying

AUBURN, Maine — A Greene man who helped plot the murder of a Lewiston man in 2013 and drove the victim and his killers to the spot where he was slain has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Nathan Morton was sentenced Tuesday in Androscoggin County Superior Court after pleading guilty last year to conspiracy to commit murder and hindering apprehension or prosecution.

Two other men have previously been convicted of murder in the April 2013 slaying of Romeo Parent.

Prosecutors say one of them, William True, was angry that Parent had informed on him in a burglary.

The Sun Journal reports that Morton testified that he drove Michael McNaughton, True and Parent to the crime scene and waited in his car while Parent was being stabbed with a screwdriver and strangled.
