Maine will receive more than $20 million originally withheld by the federal Department of Education on July 1.

The money is used for five grant programs supporting teacher development, adult literacy, English language instruction and more.

Earlier this week millions of dollars were restored to support another grant program supporting after-school programs and summer learning opportunities.

Maine's funding is part of roughly $6 billion frozen nationally.
