A child in Maine has died from the flu, according to the state Center for Disease Control.
Health officials say the child from southern Maine was under five-years old and not vaccinated. It's the first death of a child related to the flu this season in Maine. Flu has been associated with 19 adult deaths in the state.
The CDC says the best way to prevent the flu is to wash hands, cover coughs and get vaccinated. Medical care should be sought immediately when children experience symptoms that include difficulty breathing and temperatures above 104 degrees.
