WATERVILLE, Maine - Two Maine airports will receive $5.8 million in grants from the federal government for construction projects.
The Portland Press Herald reports that the Robert LaFleur Airport in Waterville will get $4.3 million to reconstruct its main 5,500-foot runway. Brunswick Executive Airport is set to receive $1.5 million to build a snow removal equipment building. The Federal Aviation Administration's Airport Improvement Program is funding both grants.
The Waterville airport's runway is at the end of its useful life. Construction on the runway project is expected to start next year in the spring.
