Officials Deciding on Violations for Portland Fire Landlord

PORTLAND, Maine - Portland officials are determining if the owner of a Portland apartment building where six people died will face violations for another property he owns in the neighborhood.

City officials inspected Gregory Nisbet's Dartmouth Street apartment building in December after receiving a complaint about fire hazards. He owned a building two blocks away on Noyes Street where six people died in a Nov. 1 fire that remains under investigation.

A spokeswoman for the city says officials are reviewing the results of a follow-up inspection of the Dartmouth Street house and are determining if any enforcement actions are necessary.

Officials gave Nisbet until Tuesday to correct hazards at the Dartmouth Street building. They found debris and other hazards on the site during a Dec. 19 inspection.
