Feds to Host Active Shooter Training in Northern Maine

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The U.S. Border Patrol and law enforcement agencies across Maine are conducting active shooter training exercises this week.

The training will take place starting Monday at the Fort Fairfield Border Patrol Station in Fort Fairfield in northern Maine. There will be no training near homes or businesses.

John Bonner, acting patrol agent in charge, says it's important for law enforcement agencies to work as a team in a real world situation involving a shooting. Training will cover specialized topics such as how to move as a team in order to isolate, distract, and neutralize a shooter.

The training sessions are being sponsored by U.S. Border Patrol's Houlton Sector and taught by agents from the Fort Fairfield Border Patrol Station.
