Police Seek Motive in Stabbing of Mother at Maine Market

By Patrick Whittle and Alanna Durkin, The Associated Press
SACO, Maine - Investigators are working to determine what motivated a 31-year-old woman to stab and kill a mother of five at a Maine supermarket.

Police say 59-year-old Wendy Boudreau was stabbed Wednesday near the ice cream freezers at a Shaw's supermarket in Saco. She was taken to the hospital, where she later died.

Connor MacCalister of Saco has been charged with murder and is expected to make her first court appearance Friday.

MacCalister was living in an apartment complex near Boudreau's home but police have said there's no indication the two women knew each other.

Neighbors on Thursday described the Boudreaus as beloved members of the community. Friend Jason DiDonato said Wendy Boudreau was the "glue of the family.''

A lawyer for MacCalister said he couldn't comment at this time.
