PORTLAND, Maine — Documents show the longtime director of Portland's Equal Opportunity and Multicultural Affairs department has resigned.
The Portland Press Herald reports city officials released documents Wednesday showing that Rachel Talbot Ross has announced her resignation, effective Dec. 11. She said in a letter that it's time for her to move on and focus on other endeavors.
Talbot Ross and City Manager Jon Jennings signed a separation agreement Oct. 7.
Officials said last week that Talbot Ross began an indefinite paid leave of absence on Aug. 27. Both said they could not discuss the circumstances.
The city refused requests for records about why she is leaving, citing confidential communications and personnel information.
The director of multicultural affairs helps immigrants deal with the city.
Talbot Ross didn't return calls Wednesday seeking comment.
