Sen. King Endorsing Cain in Maine's 2nd CD Race

AUBURN, Maine - Independent Sen. Angus King is endorsing Democrat Emily Cain in the race for Maine's 2nd Congressional District seat.

The senator is touring a manufacturing plant in Auburn with Cain on Wednesday. They'll also be holding a rally and discussion with University of Maine students on things like student loans.

A recent Press Herald poll showed Cain 10 points behind Republican Bruce Poliquin in the vast district.

King causes with Democrats, but has supported a variety of candidates this campaign cycle. He has backed Republican Sen. Susan Collins in her re-election bid as well as independent gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler.

Maine GOP Chairman Rick Bennett said in a statement that the endorsement is no surprise as King is a strong supporter of President Barack Obama and his "misguided health care takeover.''
