AUGUSTA, Maine — U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin of Maine's 2nd District has expressed concern over proposed rules to implement new laws regulating investment advisors.
At a meeting of the House Financial Services committee, he blasted the rules as too cumbersome and complex and says they are really aimed at professional investors, not average people.
"We should have a government here, all of us, that helps our small investors, a government that works for them, not against them," Poliquin says, "so I really worry about them."
He says small investors are faced with a bewildering array of retirement plans and need advice based on their individual needs, not an off-the-shelf plan with no thought about an individual's finances.
