AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine Gov. Paul LePage, who has often criticized President Obama, says he supports Obama's right to nominate someone to fill the vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court resulting from Justice Antoine Scalia's death.
"Oh,absolutely, absolutely," LePage said. "I am a big constitutionalist. If it's in the Constitution, it means something."
That does not mean LePage will support the nominee. But he says the Constitution sets up the process for filling vacancies on the court and that process should be followed by all involved.
Some Republican senators are saying the next president should fill the vacancy, not Obama.
