Libertarians in Maine Organize for Fall Election

AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine supporters of Libertarian Party nominees Gary Johnson and William Weld met over the weekend to organize for the fall campaign.

Volunteer state coordinator Joe Steinberger says they are using social media and old fashioned personal campaigning to get the message out that there is an alternative to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

“Two-term governors of their states, very successful," he says. "We know Bill Weld here, from Massachusetts, is enormously popular. He won re-election by 71 percent, the highest majority in the history of Massachusetts.”
About two dozen supporters gathered in Rockland to strategize and discuss ways to organize for the fall campaign, with very little money and a lot of ground to cover before Election Day.

Steinberger says he hopes the candidates will personally campaign in the state. “They have a plan to come to Maine, to be in Portland, Lewiston, Bangor in one day. That’s what we are working on and I hope it will be soon.”
