House Tables Resolution To Impeach Trump

The U.S. House of Representatives tabled a resolution to impeach President Trump on Wednesday.

Maine’s two democratic representatives split on the question: 2nd District Rep.e Jared Golden says that while Congress should continue its investigation, he does not believe that Trump’s words and actions would justify impeachment now.

“As abhorrent and, you know, as much as I disagree with his comments, I don’t believe them to be impeachable,” Golden said.

1st District Rep. Chellie Pingree presided over the vote as speaker pro-tem and supported moving forward with impeachment. Wednesday’s vote was 332 to 95. Further attempts at passing an impeachment resolution are expected.
