The Maine Center for Disease Control Saturday is reporting 990 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Maine, an increase of 25 from Friday's report.
There were also three more deaths reported. In an emailed statement, Maine CDC Communications Director Robert Long said that the three were all women older than age 80. One woman was from Androscoggin County, one was from Franklin County and one was from Waldo County.
Fifty people have died from confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state of Maine so far.
Five hundred nineteen people have recovered from the disease.
Maine CDC Director Dr. Nirav Shah on Friday said that the increase was expected after an increase in testing earlier in the week: "It is a function of the fact that we offered universal testing...and as in public health, as in so many other places, we know that when we go to look for things, we do find them."
