Unity Man Killed in Skateboarding Accident

UNITY, Maine - A Unity man was killed early this morning in a skateboarding accident on the Unity College campus.

Maine State Police say Christopher Garbinski, 23, and two other men on skateboards were descending down a hill on the campus toward Quaker Hill Road when Garbinski failed to make a left hand turn, crossed the road and crashed into a group of trees.

The other two men also crashed, sustaining minor injuries. They've been identified as Sylvanus Egerton, 27, and Luke Munster, 24, both from Unity.

Unity EMS responded to the accident, and determined that Garbinski had died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The Waldo County Sheriff's Department also responded to the scene.

Authorities say Garbinski was not a student at Unity College. The three men were visiting friends on the campus and were headed home at about 1:30 a.m. when the accident occurred.
