Warden Pilot Locates 2 Whose SUV Broke Down In The Maine Woods

A Maine Warden Service pilot has found a pair of women missing for two days after their SUV broke down in a remote part of the state. The pilot found 40-year-old Aprylle Tapley and her friend, 44-year-old Tammy Michaud, alongside their disabled sport utility vehicle, on Tuesday, in an area north of Millinocket.

Wardens on the ground then rescued the women and arranged for the vehicle to be towed.

They'd gone for a drive on the Golden Road, a logging road, on Sunday. They were outside cellphone coverage when their vehicle struck a rock and punctured their oil pan on a different road.

Wardens urge all travelers on remote roads to let others know where you're going, to understand cellphone limitations to be prepared with proper gear.
