Caring for the Caregivers

Hands holding others' hands
Maine Public

November is National Family Caregivers Month. In Maine there are an estimated 166,000 family caregivers providing $2.9 billion in unpaid care to loved ones. However, many filling this role don't necessarily recognize that they're caregivers— they see themselves as simply doing what you do for family who need support. We’ll discuss ways to help these caregivers.

Panelists:
M.T. Connolly, author, The Measure of Our Age
Megan Walton, CEO, Southern Maine Agency on Aging
Bridget Quinn, associate state director of advocacy and outreach, AARP

VIPs:
Joy Barresi Saucier, executive director, Aroostook Agency On Aging
Jaye Martin, executive director, Legal Services for the Elderly

Jonathan was born in Monsey, New York. A field trip to Washington, DC when he was in 7th grade started him on his circuitous path to a career in public radio. The trip inspired a love of politics and led to his desire to one day call DC home. After graduating from Grinnell College, he worked on a couple of campaigns in Iowa (presidential and congressional) and moved to Washington, DC.
