In an effort to meet the growing demand for skilled cyber workers, The University of Southern Maine formally opened its Security Operations Center classroom in Gorham Thursday.

It's not clear what the company intends to do with the land. But town officials say if the sale goes through, it will be up to Amazon to design a project and submit it for public feedback and permitting.

The town has a proposal to sell 94 acres off Main Street to the online retailer. Amazon would pay $4 million to purchase the land.

State transportation authorities will study alternatives to ease traffic congestion west of Portland.

Town councilors overwhelmingly told the Maine Turnpike Authority they no longer wanted a four-lane highway to deal with traffic.
