Gusts were as strong as 50 or 60 miles per hour, chasing the heavy rain that had soaked the state from Friday into Saturday. The wind blew tree limbs - and whole trees - onto power lines.
Central Maine Power says its crews are still working today to clear about 2,000 outages, the greatest number in Franklin County; Emera Maine has about 1,700 customers still without power.
