PORTLAND, Maine — A developer has submitted plans for a six-story residential building in Portland.
The Portland Press Herald reports the Luminato Condominium would be located in the city’s India Street neighborhood and consist of 26 units of ownership condos.
Prices would range from $200,000 for a one bedroom to around $400,000 for three-bedroom units.
Developer Chip Newell says he hopes the project will be affordable to young professionals and help address the city’s shortage of workforce housing.
He says two vacant three-story apartment buildings on Newbury Street would be demolished.
The $8 million project would be subject to three ordinances, including one that requires new housing developments with 10 or more units to include one unit of workforce housing.
