19th Annual Thoreau-Wabanaki Trail Festival
The 2025 Thoreau-Wabanaki Trail Festival runs July 23-28, in a series of indoor and outdoor programs held in and around Greenville, Maine. The Fest celebrates Maine's North Woods unique cultural and natural heritage, commemorating naturalist writer Henry David Thoreau's three trips into the wilds, two of which were launched with Penobscot guides from Moosehead Lake, made famous in his book "The Maine Woods". Showcasing this year's Fest: a gathering of some 32-Birch Bark Canoes Exhibit & Flotilla, Penobscot Drumming/Singing group, Thoreau-inspired ecological Nature Walks, Penobscot Ways in Woods & Water cultural trip. Presentations include Dark Sky/Aurora Borealis photography tips; Thoreau Historian "The Tonic of Wildness"; Maine's Moose Population; The Art of River Traveling; "Moosehead's Native Influences"; and "Wabanaki, Thoreau & The Power of Place".
