RICK ATKINSON, PULITZER PRIZE WINNING AUTHOR OF BESTSELLING AMERICAN HISTORY BOOKS, WILL DISCUSS HIS NEWEST VOLUME FOR GRAVES LIBRARY’S ANNUAL AUTHOR EVENT ON JUNE 19

KENNEBUNKPORT — Pulitzer Prize-winning author, historian and journalist Rick Atkinson will discuss his newest volume in his Revolution Trilogy, “The Fate of the Day,” with Susan Swain, journalist and recently retired co-chief executive of CSPAN on June 19 at the Kennebunk River Club on Ocean Avenue, Kennebunkport, Maine.

The Annual Summer Author Event is hosted by the Louis T. Graves Memorial Library and is open to the public. The annual fundraising event features nationally recognized authors and speakers (last year’s speaker was author, journalist and professor Paul Hendrickson); ticket sales and donations support the library’s essential operations and celebrate the community’s commitment to ideas and dialogue.

Atkinson’s new book, “The Fate of the Day: The War for America, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777-1780” (published by Crown Publishing), is the second volume of the landmark Revolution Trilogy and coincides with the 250th anniversary of the beginning of America’s war for independence. His bestselling first volume, “The British Are Coming,” won multiple prestigious book prizes, including the George Washington Prize, awarded by Mount Vernon and its partners.

A winner of the Pulitzer Prize for history and journalism, Rick Atkinson has produced a remarkable oeuvre of best-selling American history. Renowned filmmaker/historian Ken Burns says: “Rick Atkinson takes his place among the greatest of all historians. This superb second volume in his Revolution Trilogy is that rare narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat.”

Atkinson will share his work on stage with the popular CSPAN host and producer Susan Swain. Swain, who recently retired from her role, helped create the network’s American History TV and First Ladies: Influence & Image series. She was inducted into the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame in 2017.

Some of the sponsors include Spinnaker Trust, Kennebunk River Club, Colony Hotel, Kitchen Chicks Catering, Robert and Marjorie Dennis, Michael and Victoria Donaghy, Allyn and Norma Lamb, Paul Mahoney, Sarah and Tom Vander Schaaff, Maine & Vine, Hurlbutt Designs, and Schooner Eleanor.
