Camden Garden Club 75th Annual Garden Tour

Camden Garden Club 75th Annual Garden Tour
Camden Garden Club, the oldest garden club in Maine, will host its 75th Annual Garden Tour on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 9:30-4 PM at various gardens throughout Camden.
From expansive seaside garden estates to small bungalow side yards, the Tour aims to spotlight the very best examples of individual gardens in Camden. This year, five private gardens will be showcased featuring a variety of landscaping, planting styles, and architectural structures, with a modern emphasis on sustainable horticulture and native plantings. In addition, three private homes will be open to guests.
In conjunction with the Garden Tour, guided tours of Camden Public Library's Amphitheatre and Harbor Park will be conducted at 9:30 am and 1pm. The Library is also hosting the Club's month-long retrospective gardening exhibit, "Celebrate Gardening" which looks at the history of gardening in the United States through the lens of the Club. As well, the historic 1770s Homestead at the Camden-Rockport Historical Society will be open to Tour guests, with a special colonial garden exhibit.
Tickets will include immersive gardenside performances by local award-winning musicians, local confectionary treats, a flower arranging demonstration, the chance to win a painting done en plein air throughout the day by Maine artist Alexandra Perry-Weiss.
Since it's beginning in 1948, the Tour has been the highlight of the Camden summer season. The first Tour featured 10 private gardens throughout Camden and it has continued every year since then with the exception of 2020, which was suspended due to the COVID pandemic.
The funds raised by the Annual Garden Tour support the Club’s ongoing activities, programs and mission.
Proceeds enable the Club to provide Camden's hanging flower baskets in the summer, the holiday wreaths in the winter, maintenance of the Camden Village Green, a robust scholarship program, and countless other civic and educational projects.
