Congregation Etz Chaim hosts public presentation by Jewish ethics scholar
Congregation Etz Chaim in Biddeford is pleased to host a presentation by Jewish scholar and author Joseph Rosenstein on Pirkei Avot, the ethical teachings from Rabbinic Jewish tradition. Rosenstein, a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Rutgers University, is a founding member of New Jersey’s 50+ year-old Highland Park Minyan — a peer-led, egalitarian, post-denominational and inclusive chavurah (prayer group). An expert on Parkei Avot, which translates from Hebrew to “Ethics of the Fathers,” Rosenstein recently published the book “Reflections on Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers): Not Just What My Rebbe Taught Me.”
His presentation will include the history of Pirkei Avot, the section of the Talmud that deals with ethical values, the major themes of Pirkei Avot, and his process in writing his book.
To register for Rosenstein’s presentation, which is offered at no-cost to the public, please visit https://etzchaimme.org/pirkriavotpresentation
