Herring Gut Coastal Science Center is launching a fundraising campaign to support year-round programs. In an effort to better serve their community, Herring Gut is raising donations with an online auction beginning at noon April 13 and end on April 27, 2025.

Herring Gut is a unique coastal science center with educational programs tailored to reach a wide range of audiences. Our expanded programming satisfies the curiosity of Pre-K children all the way up through adults.

From Aquatots to Watershed Watchers, Herring Gut has you covered! Their marine and environmental science-based hands-on experiences will connect you to the coast, expand your knowledge of aquaponics, aquaculture, and the ocean, and leave you with a sense of wonder.

Funds raised in their auction help provide summer camp scholarships. During a ten-week period each summer, Herring Gut invites students between the ages of 7 and 17 to spend a week with us, exploring and learning from Maine’s diverse coastal habitats and ecosystems. The goal of our Summer Camp program is to give all children, from Maine and elsewhere in New England, the opportunity to learn through Herring Gut’s unique hands-on experiential learning program. During each day of their camp sessions, they explore a specific marine habitat, including rocky shores, sandy beaches, salt marshes, mudflats, and the working waterfront.
